The Divine Art of Mental Worship and Devotion: A Step-by-Step Guide to Mental Worship of the Lord"

How to Perform Mental Worship (Manas Puja)?
To perform mental worship (Manas Puja), one must visualize that the Lord is seated before them. All the sacred offerings and materials for the puja are available in our minds.
Every step of this worship should be mentally experienced. In Manas Puja, everything is offered to the Lord through the mind alone. If a person does not possess wealth, the Lord still accepts their sincere mental offerings. It is not necessary to give expensive gifts to God, as our Lord does not seek ostentation.
Let us now understand in detail how to perform Manas Puja. Bathing the Lord and Offering Pādya (Water for Washing Feet) The Lord has arrived after bathing and is adorned with divine garments and the sacred thread (Yajnopavita).
First, we take Pādya (water for washing the feet) and wash His divine feet. While doing this, we chant the mantra: "Om Pādayoh Pādyam Samarpayāmi

Nārāyaṇāya Namah." Offering Arghya (Sacred Water) and Āchaman (Purification Sip)

Next, we offer Arghya—fragrant water mixed with sandalwood—to the Lord. The Lord accepts the Arghya with both hands while we chant: "Om Hastayor Arghyam Samarpayāmi Nārāyaṇāya Namah."

Then, we offer Achaman (purification sip) and recite: "Om Āchamanīyam Samarpayāmi Nārāyaṇāya Namah." Offering Tilak, Ornaments, and Flowers After this, we apply a tilak of sandalwood, saffron, and kumkum on the Lord's forehead while chanting:

"Om Gandham Samarpayāmi Nārāyaṇāya Namah." Next, we offer pearls (Muktaphala) to the Lord’s forehead with the mantra: "Om Muktaphalam Samarpayāmi Nārāyaṇāya Namah."

We then offer fragrant flowers and Tulsi leaves while reciting: "Om Patram Pushpam Samarpayāmi Nārāyaṇāya Namah."
Finally, we adorn the Lord with a beautiful floral garland while chanting: "Om Mālyam Samarpayāmi Nārāyaṇāya Namah." Offering Incense, Lamp, and Food (Naivedya) We offer fragrant incense to the Lord while reciting:

"Om Dhūpam Āghrāpayāmi Nārāyaṇāya Namah." Next, we present a clarified butter (ghee) lamp to the Lord while chanting: "Om Dīpam Darśayāmi Nārāyaṇāya Namah."
Then, we offer a grand meal consisting of 56 varieties of food, 36 types of fruits, and 36 types of delicacies. While offering this Naivedya (divine food), we recite: "Om Ṛtuphalam Samarpayāmi Naivedyam Nivedayāmi Nārāyaṇāya Namah." Offering Āchaman and Betel Leaves (Tāmbūl)

After the meal, we offer Āchaman (purification sip) again while chanting: "Om Punarāchamanīyam Samarpayāmi Nārāyaṇāya Namah."

Then, we present betel leaves (Tāmbūl) infused with fragrant spices to the Lord while reciting: "Om Pūgīphalam Cha Tāmbūlam Samarpayāmi Nārāyaṇāya Namah." Offering Dakshinā (Donation),

Aarti, and Pushpānjali (Floral Offering) We then offer sacred Dakshinā (donation) with precious gems, as provided by Kubera, while reciting:
"Om Dakṣiṇādravyaṁ Samarpayāmi Nārāyaṇāya Namah." Afterward, we perform Aarti by lighting camphor and waving it before the Lord in a circular motion while glorifying His divine presence.

Finally, we offer Pushpānjali (handfuls of flowers) and then stand before the Lord, who also stands in response. We circumambulate Him four times and then bow down in complete prostration
(Sashtanga Pranam) while reciting the prayer: "Tvameva Mātā Cha Pitā Tvameva, Tvameva Bandhuścha Sakhā Tvameva, Tvameva Vidyā Draviṇaṁ Tvameva, Sarvaṁ Mama Deva Deva."

Thus, all offerings in Manas Puja are made through devotion and the mind alone. Scriptures define this as mental worship, where everything is surrendered to the Lord through heartfelt devotion. In the end, we immerse ourselves in divine contemplation, experiencing the Lord’s grace and surrendering completely at His lotus feet.
